Online Collaboration in Educator Communities of Practice

This micro-learning experience was designed and developed for K-12 educators in a community of practice (CoP). Learners are K-12 practitioners who vary in age, gender, ethnicity, educational background, years of experience, and levels of participation in the community. They are are organized around shared priorities - to improve learning outcomes for students and their own practice. The objective for this experience is for learners to plan implementation of four strategies for engaging members online in collaborative work towards a shared priority. Instructional strategies in the microlearning design include: an activating strategy, direct instruction via a limited lecture in video format, repetition, and assessment using Google Sites as a content management system for asynchronous online learning.
